The man allegedly can't show up to his own trial in October because he has shows in Russia, except the AllHipHop desk checked, and the St. Petersburg arena said in late August that it never signed a contract with Ye at all. The delay excuse is a concert that is already dead. The defense is not stalling for time. It is stalling for time that no longer exists.
The other excuse is a key witness who got deported, his former chief of staff, picked up at an airport and sent back to the UK, which apparently complicates a deposition. The suit itself is from a guard who says Ye demanded he cut the dreads, which are tied to his Muslim faith, and fired him when he refused, with the guard seeking roughly $23 million in damages. The defense is asking for seven months and sanctions on the plaintiff and his lawyer for stalling discovery, which is both sides stalling, which is the whole point of the trial now.
