According to NY Post, Brooke Baldwin says she cried in private after Megyn Kelly falsely claimed on her show that she had slept with four men in a month, and that defending herself cost her "tens of thousands of dollars." The feud started in July, when Kelly devoted a segment to Baldwin's paywalled Substack post about sex and four men, and her team never read the paid part, where Baldwin wrote that she had turned all four men down.
The mechanism is the paywall as malice. Kelly's team never read the rest of the post, because, in Kelly's own words, "who gives a s-t about Brooke Baldwin, to be honest?" That is nine minutes of airtime, three men cackling on the couch, and a lie about a woman's sex life, broadcast on a schedule. The apology was a one-liner: we should have paid to read the rest. Nobody has priced the apology itself.
Now the price is itemized. Two months later, Baldwin counts it in her latest Substack: "And it cost me tens of thousands of dollars to defend a version of myself that never existed." That is the new PR ledger, and it is a bad one. The lie is free to make, the correction is billable, and the tears are for the record. USA Today ran the first round of this. This is the final bill.
And the close from Baldwin, which is the whole post in one sentence: "I'm not going to sit here and pretend I've arrived at some Hallmark kumbaya bulls-t ending where I've found compassion for her. I haven't. I'm not there. Maybe I never will be." Two women who left cable news and still cannot stop narrating each other's sex lives. The torch is lit. It is burning on both ends.
