According to LADbible, Tom Hanks' son Chet Hanks walked up to comedian Eric Andre at ComplexCon in Los Angeles and confronted him over a 2023 joke that his dad should get a DNA test.
The beef is old. Chet appeared on The Eric Andre Show in 2023, and after the episode aired, Andre told Rolling Stone the guest was "emotionally disturbed" and "stole a motorcycle and rode around" the set, then wondered how Colin Hanks "came out so good" and Chet "came out so bad." Three years and one streetwear expo later, the matter is being settled in person.
Chet posted the confrontation video to Instagram himself, which makes the one-sided video the official record. In the caption, Andre, who "travels to ComplexCon with four bodyguards," supposedly has "no memory whatsoever" of trashing him and "foamed at the mouth" over "mockery of Caribbean culture." Andre can be heard yelling the DNA test line before security splits them up. The phrasing is straight out of a deposition. The venue is a sneaker convention.
The comment section did the PR's job for him. Top comment, 17,000 likes: walking up to Eric Andre and thinking it would make you look cool is "so embarrassing." The joke was aimed at Tom, and somewhere along the way it became Chet's grievance, the family legacy, the next collectible at the expo.
YOUR TURN: The DNA test was aimed at Tom Hanks. Why is it Chet's beef?
