After EJ Johnson posted that the Dior show at Paris Fashion Week started an hour late because Rihanna was running behind, the singer replied to the clip with one word: "Damn," per Page Six.
For the uninitiated: EJ Johnson, 34, is the Rich Kids of Beverly Hills alum whose entire career to date is standing near bigger people and filming it. He posted a backstage clip saying the Dior show started late "because Rihanna was late," adding that they "didn't care to wait for her." As if the front row were a favor owed to him. As if her lateness affected anything except his content pipeline.
The shade is the product. He has been jabs-at-Rihannaing her for years: "big names" "fell short" at the Met Gala, and he brags he was the only person to buy the cape off a runway that she later wore. His entire portfolio is "I saw it before you did." Rihanna's answer is the best PR move of the season: one word. Not a tweet. Not a rep statement. Not a lawyer. "Damn." That is not a reply, that is a verdict, and the entire celebrity court has already handed down the sentence.
The cherry: a day after the Dior shade, Johnson was blocked from entering his own Paris hotel by a swarm of paparazzi, and he made a video of that too. The Rich Kid has spent a decade farming the distance between himself and the women he will never be. It took four letters to close it.
YOUR TURN: One word or a press release, which is the more expensive apology?
